Common problems
- How do I cancel my subscription?
- Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. On your iPhone open Settings, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions, then Reset, then Cancel Subscription. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
- I paid but Premium is not unlocked
- Open Settings inside the app and tap "Restore purchases". This asks Apple to re-check your Apple ID. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID you bought it with. If it still does not unlock, email us and mention the date of purchase.
- I lost my progress
- Progress is stored only on your device, so it does not survive deleting the app, resetting your phone, or moving to a new device. This is the trade-off for having no account and uploading nothing. We cannot recover it, because we never had a copy.
- My daily reminder is not appearing
- Check that notifications are allowed: iPhone Settings, then Reset, then Notifications. If they were declined once, iOS will not ask again and it has to be enabled there manually. Then re-select your reminder time in the app.
- The focus timer stopped when I locked my phone
- It did not. The timer runs on the clock rather than on the screen, so locking your phone is fine and the session still completes. Reopen the app afterwards and it will be recorded.
- I think a lesson is wrong
- Please tell us, and be specific about which claim. Every lesson lists its sources so a disagreement can be checked against them. Content corrections get priority over everything else in our inbox.
About the app
- Is Reset based on real science?
- Yes, and it shows its work. Every lesson ends with a "Why this lesson?" section listing the actual studies behind it, plus an honest evidence level: solid, emerging, or debated. When a popular claim is weaker than the internet suggests, the lesson says so rather than quietly repeating it.
- Does Reset block apps or track my screen time?
- No, and it never claims to. Blocking apps requires a special Apple permission and works poorly in practice, because people disable it exactly when they are most tempted. Reset teaches you why your attention behaves the way it does and gives you concrete changes to make instead.
- Do I need an account?
- No. There is no sign-up, no email, and no password. Your progress, XP, streak and badges are stored on your device and never uploaded anywhere. Reset works completely offline.
- How much is there, and what happens when I finish it?
- Sixty-three lessons across six paths, in English and French. At one a day that is roughly two months, and it is not the end: every lesson you complete comes back for a short review after two days, then a week, then a month, then three. That spacing is not a retention trick bolted on, it is the technique the Memory path spends a whole lesson defending, applied to the app itself. New lessons are added every month.
- How long does a lesson take?
- Two to three minutes. Each one follows the same seven steps: a scientific hook, a short visual explanation, a real-life example, a quiz, the nuanced answer, a challenge to apply that day, and XP.
- What is free and what is Premium?
- The first five lessons of How Attention Works are free, plus the focus timer and the streak. Premium unlocks the rest of that path and the other five, unlimited daily challenges, longer focus sessions, all badges and advanced stats.
- Does getting a quiz question wrong punish me?
- No. There are no lives and nothing to lose. Failed retrieval is one of the strongest learning mechanisms there is — the app teaches that in the Memory path, so punishing errors would contradict its own content.
- Is this therapy or medical advice?
- No. Reset is educational content about research on attention, habits and memory. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If something is seriously affecting your sleep, mood or daily life, speak to a health professional.
